SHAH ALAM, 19 Dec – Seorang wanita kini hidup dalam ketakutan apabila diserang ah long atau ‘ceti haram’ selepas suaminya dikatakan gagal membayar hutang yang dipinjam dua tahun lalu berjumlah RM 200,000.

Mangsa, Mazmira Taib, 29, berkata, dia hanya mengetahui tentang hutang suaminya, Hakim Zani, 34, selepas ah long tersebut datang menyerangnya di tempat letak kereta, di sebuah kompleks membeli-belah, dekat sini, semalam.

“Waktu itu saya sedang menunggu kawan untuk keluar makan. Tiba-tiba dia (ah long) datang, menjerit suruh saya keluar dari kereta. Dia mengugut untuk mencederakan saya jika saya tidak dapat bayar hutang tersebut,” katanya ketika ditemubual selepas membuat laporan polis di Ibu Pejabat Polis Kontinjen Selangor.

Mangsa yang juga merupakan seorang suri rumah didakwa menjadi penjamin kepada pinjaman tersebut menyebabkan dia diburu ah long meskipun mangsa tidak mengetahui langsung mengenai kontrak pinjaman yang dibuat oleh suaminya itu.

Suaminya yang bekerja sebagai pegawai kanan pentadbiran di sebuah syarikat swasta dipercayai membuat pinjaman tersebut pada tahun pertama perkahwinan mereka.

“Memang kami ada masalah kewangan sebelum ini, tapi saya tidak sangka yang suami sanggup pinjam duit dari ah long. Malah, dia ada mengatakan bahawa dia ingin ke luar negara atas urusan kerja sejak dua minggu lepas. Rupa-rupanya dia ingin lari dari membayar hutang,” ujar Mazmira.

Menurut DSP Ahmad Ali, beliau mengesahkan bahawa pihaknya ada menerima laporan yang dibuat oleh mangsa sejurus selepas diserang. Pihak polis juga berusaha untuk menjejaki suami mangsa yang dikatakan mempunyai urusan kerja di luar negara.

“Kami akan berusaha untuk menjaga keselamatan mangsa dan akan menjalankan siasatan dengan terperinci berhubung dengan kes ini supaya serbuan terhadap tempat-tempat pinjaman haram ini dapat dilakukan,” ujar DSP Ahmad Ali ketika ditemui.

SHAH ALAM, 7 Nov – Seorang gadis berusia 18 tahun yang dipercayai bekerja sebagai ‘Guest Relation Officer’ (GRO), mati ditembak di kawasan pembinaan bangunan baru berhampiran Public Bank, Seksyen 15 di sini, pagi semalam.

Pemangku Timbalan Ketua Polis, Ibu Pejabat Polis Shah Alam, DSP Syed Aziz Syed Omar Jalalulail Al-Barakabah berkata, pihak hospital mengesahkan bahawa mangsa mati serta-merta di tempat kejadian selepas dua kali das tembakan dilepaskan di sebelah kanan kepala mangsa.

“Mayat mangsa dijumpai oleh seorang warga Bangladesh kira-kira jam 6.30 pagi di kawasan letak kenderaan, tapak pembinaan berkenaan dalam sebuah kereta jenis Mercedes Benz bernombor CLK240 dengan enjin yang masih hidup,” jelas beliau.

Menurut saksi kejadian, Bahadur Abdul Saleem, 27, beliau yang sedang dalam perjalanan ke tempat kerja terkejut menemui seorang gadis yang terbaring dengan keadaan berdarah di kepala dalam sebuah kereta yang masih hidup enjin keretanya.

“Oleh sebab risau dan terkejut, saya terus menghubungi pihak polis untuk melaporkan tentang kejadian ini,” katanya.

Mangsa, Nadia Ahmed, 18 dikatakan mati ditembak dalam kereta berkenaan pada pukul 3.00 pagi. Beliau berasal dari Ampatenang, Dengkil dan bekerja dengan Datuk Shamuganathan Pilai, seorang ahli perniagaan yang terkenal.

Kereta Mercedes Benz warna hitam bernombor CLK240 yang mana Nadia ditemui mati itu didaftarkan di bawah nama Datuk Shamuganathan Pilai. Namun, Shamuganathan ketika dihubungi pihak polis berada di New Delhi, India atas urusan perniagaan selama dua hari.

Keluarga Shamuganathan mengenali Nadia dan mereka memaklumkan bahawa Nadia merupakan pelayan (GRO) yang sah kepada ahli perniagaan berkenaan dan diberi kebenaran untuk memandu kereta tersebut.

Motif pembunuhan masih lagi dikenal pasti dan disiasat oleh pihak polis. Tetapi pihak polis percaya pembunuhan ini ada kaitan dengan Datuk Shamuganathan kerana beliau mempunyai ramai musuh dalam bidang perniagaan.

Pihak polis mendapati bahawa dua das tembakan tersebut dilakukan menggunakan pistol jenis Smift&Watson dan kedap bunyi. Penembak ini diistilahkan sebagai berpengalaman kerana pandai mengelak daripada tumpuan orang ramai terhadap bunyi tembakan berkenaan.

Kes ini akan diadili di bawah Seksyen 302 Kanun Keseksaan atas kesalahan membunuh.

THE AMAZING JAPAN

Japan is wonderful country. It is never a myth that they are advanced in every aspect in life. To gain an opportunity to go to Japan is priceless. Japan-East Asia Network of Exchange for Students and Youths is a program which conducted up to many years now is about to encourage the learning Japanese cultures to the world. Japanese government is spending so much money to invite youths especially students to come to Japan and experiencing the life of a Japanese. JENESYS 2.0 Mass Media was a very meaningful and memorable experience in my life. This was one of the highlight of the year 2014 for me. I was so excited even from the beginning when I was first chosen to be part of the program. There are a lot to say about the program but I will try my best to simplify the unforgettable experiences I gained from the trip.

Before coming to Japan, I was so curious about their cultures and I did have some thoughts about the Japanese people. First, what did I usually heard from the people thought on Japanese people is they are very time-based people. I frequently had been told that they use their time wisely. Every person that we meet at the bus or train will have something to read in hands. I have been told also that the Japanese are very punctual. Other than that, a thought which I can say everyone in this world noticed that they are advanced in term of technology.

After coming to Japan, I do realize that everything they said was true. The Japanese are very innovative. There are a lot of bizarre things that I found in Japan. One of them is the super toilet. The super toilet in Japan is very innovative, creative and so much convenient to use. The super toilet got a heater on its toilet seat which can keep the person using the toilet warm as comfortable to use the toilet. The super toilet also has several buttons that provide different kinds of small pipes for cleaning. Even we can choose the temperature of the water that we want to use for cleansing. I am impressed and having time to use it was so much fun!

When I was walking around Kitakata city in Fukushima, I saw a radio at a corner of a road there. Everyone who are using the road can listen to the radio. This is something new for me. It shows how developed Japan is. Kitakata isn’t a big city like Tokyo but the technology is still advanced.

The infrastructures are very well planned and organized. The buildings in Japan are all built in well safety and secured. This is because Japan usually facing natural disasters such as earthquakes and volcano explosions. So, the builders, contractors and the architectures need to consider the safety measures of the infrastructures in Japan.

Other than that, their transportation is very developed and systematic. The bullet train or called as Shinkansen in Japan is one of the most highlighted technology that Japan has. The bullet train is a high speed train which acts as a medium of inter-city connections. I got a chance to experience the Shinkansen from Tokyo to Fukushima and from Fukushima back to Tokyo. All what I can say is, the system of the bullet train is very systematic and yes, it is very fast. We travelled for only 1 hour for 190km travel distance.

Besides that, I do realize that Japanese people are very respectful. This is a fact that I can never deny. I was so overwhelmed by their positive vibes. People keep on bowing when greeting and meeting other people. They usually will greet you with such words “Arigato gozaimasu” (thank you), “Konichiwa” (good afternoon), “Konbanwa” (good evening) and “Ohayou Suminasai” (good night). In fact, they will keep on apologizing to us even the problem they did was not even an issue. They waved to us when we are leaving the place that we visited. They waved until we can never see them. This is for me a very heart-warming experience as they really show how respectful they are to us as their guests.

Besides, people in Japan are very punctual. They are always earlier than the exact call-time. As we were there, our coordinators keep on reminding us of please be on time. One of the best examples that we can take is the people who need to use the bullet train. They need to be very punctual as if they didn’t, they could miss the train.

In fact, Japanese people are well organized people. They organized their lives daily. They will stick on the schedule that they have made. In every activities that we attended in Japan, we can see how well prepared they are to serve us with such meaningful knowledge.

One of the words that significantly to explain about Japanese people is considerate. They are very considerate people. They will try their best to serve the others. They always think about the other’s needs and try to makes sure they had served them enough. I can see that at so many people that I met in Japan. Ito-san for example did collected 60 cents which left in a hotel room and gave the coins back to the owner. Can you imagine how considerate they are? 60 cents which probably not worth much still has been sent back to the owner. Besides, my foster mother, Oba-san tried to grant all of our wishes which includes to see snow and to shop Yukata (tradisional Japanese wear).  For the record, yes she did grant all of our wishes. I am so flattered with their efforts to makes sure that we are all well comfortable of being there in her house.

As an ambassador and as a proud Jenesyst, I would like to share my experience with others. When I came back here in Malaysia, I have a plan to make sure that I can absorb the positive cultures from Japan among my friends and family. At a bigger scope, I hope that my sharing will be shared to many more people and targeted the Malaysians as a whole. This program is indeed a very good program and need to be continued to many years to come. I do hope that I can go back to Japan. However, I love Malaysia more. That is why I wish that Malaysia could be better than that one day. Malaysian government needs to make such program like this to promote Malaysia to other countries as well. I will cherish the moments forever and thank you for this opportunity. I am blessed.

“I WANT TO TOUCH A DOG CAMPAIGN”: TREATMENT OR THREAT?

            Malaysia has been shocked by a controversial campaign that has driven people’s attention, as the most for the Muslims. ‘I want to touch a dog’ campaign was conducted by Syed Azmi Alhabshi with support from Jabatan Kebajikan Agama Islam (JAKIM) on 19 October 2014. There were almost a thousand of people came to the campaign’s event. The event had received so many criticisms from the public especially the Muslims.

This campaign’s objective was to help many overcome their fear of dogs and bring together Malaysians to promote tolerance and understanding that goes beyond culture, race or religion. There was one opinion shared by one of the participants, “It is also to show that touching a dog is not haram. People are worried about touching the dogs more as it’s a sin instead of worrying about the biggest sins," Siti Sakinah who was previously a religious teacher who currently work with an NGO.

People around the country wondered on how eligible the campaign is. Islam has set a belief to the Muslims that we need the stay away from such haram (forbidden) things such as pork, dogs and liquors. In this campaign, the subject is focusing on the dog which considered as one of the haram (forbidden) things that highlighted by Islam. We’ve grown up with such values that rejected the dogs as pet and companionship. So, can we take this campaign as a treatment for such fear towards dogs or it can be seen as a threat to the beautiful of Islam?

We have been taught since we were kids that as Muslims, we really need to take care of our cleanliness. Islam is easy. Every rule that has been made must already come with such definite reasons. As Muslims, we just need to follow the rules and make the world a better place to live.

Based on the teaching of Islam explained by the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM), touching a dog without an urgent reason is haram. The fatwa states that the Prophet Muhammad had ordered that containers which had been used by dogs to drink from were to be washed, which showed that the tongue, saliva and mouth of dogs were unclean.

Furthermore, dog saliva is created from its own sweat, and if the sweat from its mouth is unclean, then the sweat from the entire body is also unclean. Touching dogs or pigs without pressing reasons is haram. This act is called “Al-Tadhammukh Bi Al-Najasah” and is defined as something which is forbidden to be done without need such as saving a hunting dog from a fire.

In this matter, we can see clearly that having dogs as pets or companionship is giving us no good because they are unclean and might affected our healthiness. That is why Islam labelled dogs as najjis mughallazah as they are forbid in the religion.

In my opinion, to make Malaysians more aware of the furry four-legged creatures and also to educate others on how to practise "sertu" (cleansing) is a brilliant idea. In fact, the campaign which to educate Muslims to love and show compassion towards animals is a very thoughtful idea which I believe is encouraged by the religion itself.

Unfortunately we must come to a realization on the sensitivity of taking dogs as the tool to create the fear free campaign towards animal as a very controversial choice to be made. The organizer must understand that dogs issue is really a big deal for Malaysian Muslims. It is true that touching dog is not haram if and only if the dog is dry.

In Malaysia, the stigma associated with dogs is seen to be a graver sin than drinking alcohol, only slightly below the “biggest sin” of all which is eating pork. Syed Azmi, the organizer of the event claimed that there is no such mistreatment of dogs in Malaysia. However, after looking at pictures of girls wearing headscarves hugging dogs bridle up the Malaysian Muslims and Muslims in global. It shows that there is a huge negative perception towards dogs among Muslims here.

On the other hand, we can see how religious authorities are clawing for control. Serving the public with such a new kind of belief and raising an odd or bizarre thought might lead to a misunderstanding and unacceptable responds from the authorities. The religious authorities can never consume such act that is so called ‘new’ to be practiced by the Muslims in the country. If they found out, this kind of reaction could happen. They might share with the media on how they want the organizer to ‘repent’ from his mislead action.

This sort of ‘new’ belief will be considered as an action to make Islam as more liberal. Liberalism of Islam is when they tried to make sure that Islam is getting more liberal and loose the syariat terms in the Muslims lives. This is where Syed Azmi and his campaign went wrong.

In short, the ‘I want to touch a dog’ campaign is seen as a threat to Islam. This sort of belief can makes the Muslims go astray and liberalize their own religion. Yes it is true that we have to treat dogs as other animals with love unfortunately due to hygiene and cleanliness in Islam we have to agree that dogs should not be allowed to be kept home but as protection for your home.

Nukilan penulis blog Suara Murba dengan artikelnya berbunyi Kebebasan Berita Dan Informasi Siber: Suatu Paradoks’ telah menarik perhatian ramai pembaca-pembaca blog. Penulis artikel ini memperkenalkan bagaimana kebebasan berita dan informasi di alam siber dianggap sebagai suatu paradoks. Kebebasan dalam komunikasi siber ini telah digariskan dalam Akta Komunikasi dan Media sejak konflik politik yang berlaku antara mantan Perdana Menteri, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad dan Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Secara kasar, kebebasan berita dan informasi siber di Malaysia tidak sebebas yang disangka. Akta Mesin Cetak dan Penerbitan 1984 meletakkan peraturan yang membataskan kebebasan yang diberikan kepada media tradisional terutamanya surat khabar. Setiap syarikat percetakan harus menghidupkan lesen percetakannya sekali setahun. Namun, akta ini kini sudah dipinda dan dimudah carakan.

Walaupun terdapat kebebasan kepada masyarakat untuk mendapatkan dan menyebarkan informasi dan juga berita, mereka tetap harus akur dengan akta-akta yang berkaitan seperti Akta Hasutan 1969, Akta Rahsia Rasmi 1972, Akta Fitnah 1957 dan Akta Dalam Negeri 1960. Akta-akta ini boleh menyekat kebebasan yang digembar gemburkan.

Saban tahun, pengguna internet meningkat dengan mendadak. Pada tahun 1995, penduduk Malaysia  mula menggunakan komputer. Internet pula mula digunakan masyarakat sejagat di Malaysia pada tahun 1997. Jumlah pengguna siber meningkat mendadak pada tahun 1999 dan kian bercambah sehingga ke hari ini. Kini, boleh dikatakan majoriti rakyat Malaysia sudah mula menggunakan internet sebagai wahana hiburan, informasi dan berita.

Kebebasan informasi dan berita dalam alam maya dikatakan suatu paradoks kerana kita kenyataan bahawa kita mempunyai kebebasan itu benar tetapi secara praktikalnya kebebasan itu tidak seluas yang disangka. Walaupun sedemikian, langkah menapis kebebasan siber ini amat penting bagi mengelakkan perpecahan antara masyarakat.

Umum sedia maklum bahawa Malaysia mempunyai pelbagai bangsa, agama dan budaya. Setiap bangsa dan agama mempunyai sensitiviti-sensitiviti kaum yang tersendiri. Setiap daripada ahli masyarakat harus akur dan hormat dengan segregasi kaum yang berlaku ini agar tidak berlaku sebarang pertelagahan antara satu pihak dengan pihak yang lain.

Melalui penelitian daripada nukilan blog Suara Murba ini, penulis percaya bahawa dengan penapisan dan usaha mengekang kebebasan siber inilah yang mampu untuk mengelakkan isu-isu tidak bermoral di alam maya. Harapan untuk melihat rakyat sejagat menjadikan internet sebagai wahana untuk mencambahkan dan memperluaskan minda harus disahut semua masyarakat.

GRIMM’S ALLEY, SECTION 7 SHAH ALAM.

SHAH ALAM – Jalan Plumbum, Seksyen 7 marked as a dangerous junction in Shah Alam because of such over occurring accidents between various vehicles every month.

According to the statement from Inspector Mohammad Faizal Che Azmi, Investigative Police Officer of Shah Alam’s police station says that, it is about three accident cases recorded per month until May 2014 at this particular junction. Jalan Plumbum intersection is in front of the i-City entrance which every vehicle can do the U-turns and enter the junction freely.

“The accidents usually involved cars and motorcycles that are using the road and come from two different directions”, he said. The junction might causes the drivers and the riders are on their blind spot to acknowledge the presence of other vehicles from the other directions. This is the main cause that leads to such repeated accidents at the junction.

On December 16 2013, there was an accident between a motorcycle and a car which is seen as the worse among all the cases because it took someone’s life. The motorcycle was hit by a Proton Prevé which was about to enter the junction. The motorcyclist died on the location because of serious internal injuries caused by strong impact of the collision with the car.

 The victim was Malek Sukiman, 42, an Indonesian worked as a construction worker at Industrial Park Bukit Raja. He was about to go to somewhere around Section 7, Shah Alam from his workplace at Bukit Raja.

As one of the witnesses of the accident, I can say that the motorcycle was driven in speed and there was almost impossible for it to stop whenever the car came suddenly to the intersection. The Proton Prevé might had overlooked its front and thought that it can get through the junction before the motorcycle reached there. However, they did cross the intersection at the same time and leaded to that death accident. The blame can be put to both of them.

A few weeks before, at the same intersection of Jalan Plumbum, Section 7 Shah Alam, an Indonesian woman was hit by Nissan Serena. It was the same negligence actions of both parties. The motorcycle tried to enter the junction but did not realize the coming car from its front.

Considered based on the cracked front glass of the Nissan Serena, it was driven at speed which when the car hit the motorcycle, a hard impact of the collision between the car and the motorcycle caused the glass to crack.

The victim, Suraya, 36, a foreign worker at a restaurant in Section 7 was unconscious for a few minutes at the accident location.  She was brought to Tuanku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital, Klang for medical help.

Everyone is advised to be very careful whenever using Jalan Plumbum, Section 7 Shah Alam as it is called Grim’s alley which explains that it is dangerous for not being alert and wise when using that road.

SAME LOVE: WHAT SAY YOU?

Gay is a state of being cheerful, merry and jolly. However, the most popular definition of gay is homosexual which certainly known as being gay, sexually and that kind of gay is what this write up is all about. 'Gay' is a general term generally referred to those who prefer others of the same gender, this broad term comprises of all the types of unnatural sexuality there is. Namely, lesbians are those females attracted to their own kind, bisexuals refer to those who go both ways, transgendered is a gender trapped inside another while asexual is a group who prefer to not have a gender all together.

There has always been a great debate on what constitutes a person to ‘gay’ some might say it is a pre-programmed code in the human DNA. Others infer it to be freedom of choice and expression. The rest just say it is a trend catching on from one to another. Nonetheless it is spreading like wildfire and the fears and harms of it is prominent and real. We see this as a ‘stigma’ of being homosexual is spreading quite rapidly and at an alarming state. What really is the cause of this anomaly? Can we curb this ‘trend’ from spreading? Should we shun those in such groups away from society or should they be accepted by the society with open arms?

When it comes to sexuality, the equality will come together. Equality is a subjective matter. Every each homosapien who’s living in this world somehow might have or might not have differences in opinions, thoughts and perspectives about equality especially in sexuality. However, the authority and the divine sources are what we need to guide us. Every religion forbids the same gender relationships. In Islam, the holy Qur’an stated which in Surah Luth that explained Islam banned the same gender relationship among males and females. So, we have to rely on the divine rules that have been there for quite long as for guidance.

There are a lot of factors that can lead to the spreading of homosexuality in our society. One of the discovered factors is the influences from peers and surrounding. Different people live in the different area and life style. Our behaviors and actions usually affected by the people who we live with. The influence of people who is very close to us is very strong as we normally act as who he or she is. So, whenever the homosexuality comes in close to a person, somehow it cannot be denied that the person can be influenced.

My friends and I have done in a research for our Psychology class in part 1 on the causes of homosexuality. We discovered that one of the contributing factors that cause such growth spurt is due to being misled by opinion leaders.

Local opinion leaders like Ambiga and Marina Mahathir are prominent figures. Their opinions speaks louder than anyone else and not to mention that the masses deemed all of their sayings as very credible, due to them having professional profession (UtusanMalaysia, 2006). These kinds of people have the power to shape and influence the society and the fact is that Ambiga is promoting the ‘Seksualiti Merdeka’ which concern about the equality in sexuality. Meanwhile, Marina Mahathir has been defending the rights of the LGBT (Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgendered) all the way along with Ambiga.

So, by having those opinion leaders who also are public figures that support this spreading cancer, we have to admit that these gay people will feel supported and feel more comfortable with what they are doing. That is why this problem is now become very popular and perhaps a trend.

Homosexual is popular among the youngsters. It cannot be doubted that elder generation do have this issue but somehow pretty much of them have stop and back on the straight life. So, youngsters are more likely to try out almost everything in life. In some researches that I have read before, younger generation nowadays get into an intimate relationship as even as early at the age 16 years old. So, normally those kinds of love will not last long. Then, the heart broken lovers will figure out something to stick the pieces of heart back together. Unfortunately, there are parts from them that pick a way whereas they switch the preferences to the one that is in the same gender. Once they take a try, it keeps them addicted and get influenced. At the end of the day, more and more homosexual people produced.

As an observer, I do believe that this problem can be solve. We can try to prevent this from happening. We have can reduce the numbers. To change someone is hard but impossible is not. We can solve this with so many tools but must have the cooperation and supports from all.

Youths are easily influenced by websites and blogs. This can also spread among their friends. So, if possible we get to write more and more writings about homosexual as to influence the youth in the social networking. In this era, people used to check the updates on their smartphones almost every five minutes, so the probability to grab their attention to read is high.

We urge the government to implement sex and sexuality education in schools. Instead of instituting restrictive gender roles in schools, children should be given comprehensive sex education so that they can learn what better about sex and sexuality. Perhaps, it can help to prevent the anomaly of sexuality.

Comprehensive sex education should comprise topics on gender, sex, and sexuality. Children should be taught about gender identity, the emotional effects of healthy peer relationships, as well as the various forms of sexuality. This will not necessarily lead to children becoming sexually active or becoming homosexual. Instead, it will help children understand their bodies better and make informed decisions on sex and sexuality. The Convention of the Right of the Children (CRC) under the United Nations states that children must be allowed to develop to their fullest potential. Hence, the government should educate them instead of trying to identify gay children and singling them out for condemnation.  It is essential that any guideline or policy developed be in the best interest of the child.

After all, being gay is not a choice but it is something that defined who you are. Nonetheless, we should realize that the god have stated that man are living with pairs.
